My name is Tyler Lumb. I am barber based in Toronto, Canada.
Hair has always played an integral role in my life. At an early age I explored various creative hairstyles that included designs and fades.
I started my apprenticeship at Proper Barber in Kensington Market working closely with two phenomenal barbers. I studied their cuts, asked them questions about their machines and what they did. During down time I used balloons to practice straight blade shaves. Finally after a few months I felt comfortable enough to try a cut.
Now I own my own barbershop close to Kensington Market called MPLCuts, and it's part of The Dress Code Project.
I have excelled in my craft and can do many forms of haircuts. I am experienced in fades, traditional barber cuts (using scissors and machines), hot towel straight blade shaves, beard trims and lineups, as well as hair designs (also known as hair art or hair tattoos). I have a certification in the Wahl barber program and a few years of experience. I have participated in two barber battles.
Giving back to my community is extremely important to me. I do charity work for LGBT youth in Toronto. There is a section on the website that allows you to hire me to do free cuts for charity or homeless people in need.
My craft is my life and I like to give back to the community in any way possible.
I am MPLCuts.
